REVIEW FOR CONCERT BY GAYATHRI GIRISH
The South Indian Cultural Association (SICA) is presenting a vocal concert by Gayathri Girish on Thursday, the 25th June, at Ravindra Bharathi. The concert starts at 6:30pm.
Mysore Sreekanth on the violin, Neyveli Skandasubramanyam on the mridangam and B Janardhan on the ghatam will accompany the singer.
Gayathri Girish, who holds a postgraduate degree in Computer Science, started her music lessons from Vidwan Sri Vaigai S Gnanaskandan. She later came under the tutelage of Padma Bhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Madurai T N Seshagopalan. Gayathri has performed in many countries, including the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UK and Muscat.
A recipient of the prestigious title of 'Isai Peroli' from Karthik Fine Arts (Chennai) awarded to her in December 2003, Gayathri's other titles include 'Sahitya Priya', 'Sangeetha Bhaskara', 'Gaana Ratna' from the Department of Cultural Affairs in Colombo, the 'Yuva Kala Bharathi', 'Dr. M L V Award' instituted by CMANA (USA), and the 'Price Award Of Excellence' from the Shakespeare Millenium Club.
