On the occasion of Kalidas Koteswara Rao's jayanthi, the Annamayya Kala Peetham is presenting 140 year old, very famous play written by Jullapudi Narayana Rao. Mr Koteswara Rao is the founder of Annamayya Kala Peetham, and also was very well-known as 'Subbisetty' since he always played that role.
Chintamani is the story of a girl called Chintamani, who follows a life of abandonment. Chintamani and her sister Chitra entice men with their beauty and strip them of their wealth. Subbisetty is a rich trader who falls for Chintamani and loses everything he had toiled for. The play ends with Chintamani realizing her fault and choosing the way of bhakti.
This play is being enacted by artists from many places in Andhra Pradesh. The cast includes:
