Carnatic Vocal Concert By Mambalam Sisters, R Vijayalakshmi And R Chitra

It's gala time for music lovers at Ravindra Bharati as musicians - par - excellence pour like a cyclonic rainfall.  The Mambalam sisters are R Vijayalakshmi and R Chitra, the daughters of KS Rangachary, a kanjira vidwan with over 30 years standing. They have been trained by a series of mavens, beginning from Alagramam Sri Ramachandran, a disciple of Maharajapuram Sri Viswanatha Iyer and going on to Sri BV Raman and Sri BV Lakshmanan, followed by Smt Suguna Varadachari. They have a number of recordings to their credit.

They have also received a scholarship from the Government of India for advanced training in music. The sisters have bagged prizes from Music Academy and being
