Sri Rama Gana Sabha is organising the 42nd Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival from 20th to 31st January at New Nallakunta Ramalayam.
R V Panduranga Sarma will be presenting a Carnatic vocal recital on 27th January, and he will be accompanied by K Ananthasouri Rajan on the violin, and Shyam Kumar on the mridangam.
Panduranga Sarma learnt Carnatic music initially from Mulukutla Sastry, and then from senior vocalist Late Puranam Purushottama Sastry, and the legendary D K Pattammal. Sarma has been performing since 2 decades, and follows a sampradaya system of kutcheri. He has performed at various sabhas of the country, winning appreciation from various vidwans and rasikas. He now works for the Indian Overseas Bank in Hyderabad, and also trains students in Carnatic vocal music.
Sri Rama Gana Sabha is one of the oldest cultural associations in the twin cities. It was established in 1949 by Carnatic singer Koniki Satyanarayana Rao. The association organises Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival every year.
