Sharada Cultural Trust is organising its 20th Annual Cultural Festival Of Music & The 163rd Aradhana Of Sadguru Sri Thyagaraja Swamy, from 30th January to 7th February, at Keyes High School. The 9-day festival will feature several renowned Carnatic musicians from all the country - O S Thyagarajan, Dr. Ganesh, Sudha Raghunathan, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Lalgudi GJR Krishnan & Vijayalakshmi, Nityasree Mahadevan, the Hyderabad Sisters and T V Sankaranarayanan - providing a musical fiesta for the Carnatic music lovers of the twin cities
Carnatic vocalist O S Thyagarajan will be performing on the inaugural day of the fest. He will be supported on the violin by R Ambica Prasad, the mridangam by S Thyagarajan and the morsing by P Srinivas Gopalan.
Thiyagarajan was born at Thanjavur, and is the son of Sangeetha Bhushanam O V Subramaniam. Besides from his father, he had his early training under Tiger Varadachariar and Tanjore Ponniah Pillai. To enhance his knowledge, he had his advanced training under Lalgudi Jayaraman and T M Thyagarajan.
He works as an Accounts Officer in Shalimar Paints Ltd, Chennai. An A-grade artiste of the All-India Radio and of Doordarshan, he has given several concerts in India and abroad.
The Sharada Cultural Trust is an all-women voluntary organisation that has working for the last 19 years in the field of cultural activities. The programs conducted by the organisation include the annual music festival and Thyagaraja Aradhana, annual music competitions, donation of rice to veda pathashalas, and donating money to the Sri Vidya School For Special Children and the Devnar School For The Blind.
