Sangeetha Ksheerasagaram, in association with Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, is presenting a Carnatic vocal recital by the Dhulipala Sisters, on 23rd May. The concert is being held at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha.
The sisters are being accompanied by I Sharada Chalam on the violin and Kapa Srinivasa Rao on the mridangam.
The Dhulipala Sisters, Swati and Soumya, are disciples of T P Chakrapani. They had started learning music together at a very young age, and have performed at various places in Hyderabad, and also for Doordarshan (Hyderabad). Both the sisters have completed their certificate courses in music from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, with distinction.
Swathi is the elder of the two, and also has a Visharada Pratham certificate from the Gandharva University. She is currently pursuing her M Tech from IIT Chennai. Sowmya, who has a Madhyama Pratham certificate from the Gandharva University, is now pursuing her MBBS degree in Hyderabad.
Formed in 2002 by a senior vocalist V Ananda Mohan, Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram has been organizing classical music shows in memory of Late Uppalapati Ankaiah. As a tribute to the legend, it promotes upcoming and established artists by inviting them to perform.
