Hero Honda, in association with DNA Networks, is organising the South-Zone Regional preliminaries and the finals of Campus Rock Idols 2009, on 6th February, at Treasure Island.
Campus Rock Idols is an inter-college music competition, and is one of the biggest rock contests held every year in India. College bands from across the country compete with each other, vying to be the best rock band in the country. Tonight, at Treasure Island, the headlining act will be performed by Synaps and Native Tongue.
The competition begins at the city level, where college bands within the city and neighbouring areas compete. Winners from several cities compete to be the regional/zonal winner; and the best regional bands compete at the national level where the winner will be crowned the Campus Rock Idol.
The regional rounds were held at Bangalore and Hyderabad for the South Zone; Shillong & Kolkata for the East Zone; Jaipur & Chandigarh and Delhi for the North Zone; and Ahmedabad and Pune for the West Zone. The national finals are on 7th February at Treasure Island, Hyderabad. Last year, the South Zone winners were Public Issue from Bangalore, and History Makers from Hyderabad.
The winning campus band will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform alongside international rock icons, The Iron Maiden, who will be performing in India sometime this year. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, including multimedia equipment for the college management of the winning bands.
The entry to the competition is by free passes available at Hero Honda and Motorola stores. Please call Ashwin at 099809-99984 for further details.
