Goethe-Zentrum will organize a photography exhibition and a visual narrative christened "Baap-Beti" from December 8 to 22, at its Hamburg Hall.
The exhibition is by a father and daughter duo showcasing two generations of experiences through pictures. Two ages, two timelines and two perspectives from two designers, and how they are so similar yet so different. Shankar is a prominent architect in Hyderabad and has his own practice. His journey has transitioned from film to digital and has a large collection of slides. Having inherited his father's talent, Shankar's journey into photography started in the early '80s, and used his father's camera.
Years later Maanasi, Shankar's daughter and a graduate in product design, set out on a similar journey with her father's camera. 7 years on, she carved a unique style for herself.
While Shankar captures life at a macro scale, Maanasi's pictures are more object- and detail-oriented. Both of them love travelling and recently went on a month-long trip to Ladakh together.
