Sutradhar School Of Acting is presenting its workshop production, Andhon Ka Haathi, on Sunday, December 18, at Saptaparni Amphitheater. Andhon Ka Haathi, is a 1-hour Hindi play, and it is a political satire written by late Sharad Joshi. The lore of the five blind men, who interpret an elephant according to their senses, has been reinterpreted in this play to project a politician who turns a blind eye towards his own voters.

The play also reflects on the nuances of the coalition politics. This is a play in a play, and the five blind characters are bound by the Sutradhar or the Narrator, who represents the common man. He in turn is treated as the elephant. The play projects absurdity in the real life. It is also interspersed with three songs, all set to tune by the participants themselves.

The production is the result of a 3-month acting workshop, during which the participants were made to undergo the rigors of Theater Games, Body Language, Observation, Imagination, and Voice And Speech Exercises. The Director of the workshop was Bhaskar Shewalkar, and Vinay Varma acted as the supervisor for this production.
