An Idiot For Dinner - Play By Evam & The Boardwalkers: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR AN IDIOT FOR DINNER...

So when was the last time you met an idiot? If you've been relatively lucky, you'd have had to wait for the opportunity. And if you're really lucky, you'll watch Evam have an idiot over for dinner, at Ravindra Bharathi.

An Idiot For Dinner, a play, is being staged by Evam and the Boardwalkers, on the 1st August. There are 2 shows of the play, one at 3:30pm and another at 7:30pm.

The play was originally made in French, titled 'Le Diner Des Cons', and even made into a Hindi film, Bheja Fry.

Evam's adaptation has Sanjay and his friends meet every week for a dinner to which they invite an idiot each, and ridicule them - the host with the biggest idiot wins. The enterprising protagonist, R Golden Gopu, gets invited to one of these dinners. Gopu loves to build replicas with matchsticks, which seems to be the only thing he can ever do without causing pandemonium. As the chaotic evening unfolds, Sanjay's wife gets into a car accident, his mistress threatens to commit suicide, and a Coup De Grace Gopu finds out the actual reason behind the dinner.

The production ran to full houses in Bangalore & Chennai. The play is directed by Michael Muthu.

Born in 1968, Michael Muthu has been in theatre for over 15 years, starting his career with Dipankar Mukherjee at the Loyola Theatre Society during his first 2 years of college, and then as founder of the Boardwalkers in 1991. Boardwalkers is Mike's theatre group, which makes money through event management, plays, set design and execution.

Mike's acclaimed productions include God, Biloxi Blues, The Hairy Ape, Sleuth, The Pied Piper Of Hamlin and Jesus Christ Superstar. Michael Muthu was also selected by Manoj Night Shyamalan to act in his first movie, Praying With Anger. Evam has worked with Mike on many productions. He has done set designing for Odd Couple, Barefoot In The Park and Chapter Two, and has directed Hamlet, Biloxi Blues and Oh God.
