Nirmala Hastakalakar Vikas Samiti, a Hyderabad-based NGO, is organising an All India Handlooms and Handicrafts Mela at S R Nagar Community Hall, Ameerpet, from November 17th to December 1st.
About 70 craftspersons are participating in this event from various states across the country.
Some of the main attractions include Pashmina shawls and silks from Jammu and Kashmir, jute crafts and Kantha stitches from West Bengal, dress sets from Gujarat, Baghalpur silk sarees from Bihar, Moradabad brass and chikan works from Uttar Pradesh, bead works from Delhi, Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees from Madhya Pradesh, bedsheets from Haryana and Jaipur tops from Rajasthan.
Textiles from Andhra Pradesh at this exhibition include Kalamkari prints and the following textiles - Mangalagiri, Venkatagiri, Gadwal, Pochampally, Cherala, Uppada, Crochet lace and Madhavaram.
