Get your hands on a colossal and magnificent collection of handicrafts in Shilparamam's Annual Crafts Mela. Forget all those little boutiques hidden away in dark nooks of the city, where you have to go in crawling and grab that last trinket before someone else gets it.
This mela has heaps of the real thing, and in quantities that Alladin's little discovery would feel shamed in front of. 600 craftsmen from AP, UP, Gujarat, Kerala, Assam, Mizoram, Karnataka, Jharkand etc., totalling 28 states across the country, are exhibitiing their little wonders. Whether fabrics, carpets, readymades, jewelry, terracotta, home-decorations, stationery or clothing accessories, you can create a new look for yourself or your home, after just a few hours here.
In additon, you can try your hand at being one of these maestros, through one of the many workshops, painting camps or sculptor camps. Another feature are the showcase of women in various crafts. Find out how the fairer sex create fairer art.
From 1600 hours onwards everyday, there will be folk dance/song programs and from 1800 hrs, general cultural programs will start. Food is available in plenty at the snack stalls, whether it is dosa, chole or chaat you are looking for. This whole do is going to be one long walk!
