The LSN Foundation, in association with other NGOs, is organising the 2-day Abilities Mela 2010, on the 12th & 13th June. The event is being held at Sweekar Upkaar, near Jubilee Bus Station. This is the 4th edition of the mela, whose objective is to provide a platform for differently abled persons to exhibit their skills and bag jobs.
15 corporate companies are participating in the mela, and over 25 stalls will be there showcasing different products that include electronics, artificial limbs, food items and handicrafts.
In addition, seminars and workshops are being organised to familiarise physically challenged persons with the latest in technology. The seminars will aim to highlight the need to ensure a barrier-free environment for physically-challenged persons at malls and government offices.
Last year, 53 physically challenged and hearing impaired persons were provided employment as telephone operators and executives in different BPO companies.
Entry is free for all, and the mela is open from 8am to 8pm. Please contact 2351-1488 for further details.
