The National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat will organise 13th Rural Technologies and Crafts Mela 2015 from January 8 to 12th, at its main campus in Rajendranagar.
Over 148 entrepreneurs from 19 states including 62 from Telangana State and 25 from Andhra Pradesh are participating in the mela. The products made by Self Help Groups, small entrepreneurs are given more importance in the mela.
"The solar related technologies which includes lighting, food processing, dehydration are given special focus during this mela as encouragement for adoption of the said technologies is found to be need of the hour, keeping in view of the power shortage, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan", he said.
Solar products, jute products, Kundan rangoli designs, Kashmir Shawls, Terracota, imitation jewellery, tribal jewellery, Madhubani paintings and the agriculture related technologies for value addition etc., will be displayed during the five day mela.
Food courts which include organic food items etc are given importance for propagating their nutritional value, added Rao. Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan is given special focus during this mela to create more and more awareness about the programme being observed across the length and breathe of the country, he said.
Apart from the exhibition cum sale during the day, cultural programmes by professional, classical dancers, school children and PG diploma students will also be conducted during the mela in the evening time.
