Pallavi Academy Of Fine Arts is organising its 10th Annual Festival of Music & Dance on 5th and 6th February, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The 2-day festival will witness various music recitals like Carnatic vocal, veena, violin, keyboard and guitar ensembles, and Kuchupudi and Odissi dances.
The detailed list of performances and events during the festival are as under:
5th February
6:00pm to 7:00pm - Carnatic vocal by students of the academy, Sameera, Swetha, Subhadra, Bhuvanakruthi, Hema and Sreevaran
7:00pm to 7:30pm - Prize distribution to students for various competitions held, and speech by the chief guest
7:30pm to 8:30pm - Sri Thyagaraja's Kuchipudi dance ballet Nauka Charitram by students of the academy, P B Pallavi, Anusha, Keertana, Vaishnavi and Apoorva. Choreographed by P B Krishna Bharathi.
8:30pm to 9:30pm - Odissi dance ballet Banitha Pradhan by disciples of Guru Durga Charan Ranabir of Bhubaneshwar
The Chief Guest will be Dr A Manjulatha, Vice-Chancellor of the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University.
6th February
06:00pm to 07:00pm - Veena ensemble by students of the academy
07:00pm to 08:00pm - Violin ensemble by students of the academy
08:00pm to 09:00pm - Keyboard & Guitar ensemble by students of the academy
The Pallavi Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1987 by P B Krishna Bharati and her brother Dr S K Venkatachary. Dr Venkatachary is a renowned classical singer and director of the institute, while Krishna Bharati is the Principal of the institute and a Kuchipudi dancer, who trained under Vedantham Prahalada Sarma and is now under Dr Shobha Naidu. Krishna Bharati is also an M A in Dance from the Hyderabad Central University. She conducted a workshop of dance at Washington DC, and has given various performances there. She has been conferred upon the titles of Natya Visharada, Samskruti Ratna and Natyasri.
