Voisins, Voisines - French Film By Malik Chibane: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR VOISINS, VOISINES - FRENCH...

The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club and the French Embassy Of India, is screening a French film, "Voisins, Voisines", on 25th January at the Sarathi Studios, Ameerpet. The film has been directed by Malik Chibane, and the cast includes Frederic Diefenthal, Anemone and Jackie Berroyer.

In the suburbs of Paris, there is a privatized former public housing estate called 'The Mozart Estate'. There is no classical music there, but a rap musician lacking inspiration. Luckily for him, he begins discovering inspiration at his doorstep itself. The rapper observes, composes, writes and sings.

The lives of the inhabitants of the whole building are dissected and transformed through his writing. The Mozart estate metamorphoses into the stage for a hip-hop fable. Discussions become poetry, situations are turned into tales, and every voice brings its own melody to a unique album. "Voisins, Voisines" is a movie about how the vision of an artist brings beauty and meaning to the lives of his entourage.
