Not speaking of Vignan Tarang in the same breath as all the Gandipet and Gachibowli colleges' fests really gets these students' goat. And not unjustifiedly either - just look at the sheer number of events here.
Vignan Institute of Technology and Science is organising its annual youth festival Vignan Tarang at the college premises on 9th and 10th March. The college is situated at Desmukhi village near Ramoji Film City. Vignan Tarang is the biggest of all festivals that the college organises. The 2-day event will have a variety of fun-filled programs, besides sports, as below:
This event consists of four rounds. They are a 2-minute speech on a given topic, group discussion, mock press conference, and stress interview.
Black & White
Participants are required to speak for and against a given topic. A large number of debatable topics will be displayed beforehand, and participants can expect one from among the displayed list.
Topics are assigned by draw of lots, and the topic will be given two minutes before the contest. The duration of time allowed is 3 minutes.
An essay writing competition which requires creativity.
Audio–visual quiz on current affairs and general knowledge.
Events of mime, mimicry, patriotic songs, skit, fancy dress, magic show, ventriloquism (puppet talk), and more.
Competitions will be held in classical/folk/light/instrumental, solo and group.

7:00pm to 8:00pm - Cultural Nite, Intramural, Prize Distribution
11:30am to 6:00pm - Sports & Games: Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Chess and Throwball
9:30am to 11:30am - Light/Folk Music
9:30am to 11:30am - General Quiz
11:30am to 1:00pm - Group Singing/Instrumental Music
11:30am to 4:00pm - Personality Contest
1:00pm to 6:00pm - Cultural Cocktail
7:00pm to 8:00pm - Valedictory Function
There is no entry fee for participation, and participation is limited to bonafide students of Degree and PG Colleges. Prizes will be awarded for the first two positions in each competition. For further details, please contact the college at 2768-2291.
