Shilparamam, as part of the ongoing All-India Crafts Mela from 16th to 31st December, is organising a Veena recital by Pasumarti Raja Rajeshwari today, the 15th day. She will be supported by M V N Suvarchala and Yasholata on the veena, Pasumarti Phanibala on the violin and V Sridharacharya on the mridangam.
Raja Rajeshwari will the start the recital with a varnam in Darbar ragam and Adi talam, followed by Mahaganapathim in Naatai ragam and Adi talam, Raghu Vamsa in Kadana Kuthuhalam ragam and Adi talam, Endaro Mahanubhavulu in Sri ragam and Adi talam, Sara Sara Samarai in Kuntala Varali ragam and Adi talam, Anuragam Leni in Saraswati ragam and Roopaka talam, Wedding Bells in Shankarabharanam (mix) ragam and Adi talam, Tandanana Ahi in Bouli ragam and Adi talam, Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma in Sri ragam and Adi talam, and finally, Sri Rama Jaya Rama in Varali ragam and Kandachapu talam.
Raja Rajeshwari is the wife of renowned Kuchipudi dancer Pasumarti Seshubabu and the Vice-Principal of Kuchipudi Nritya Bharathi, where she teaches Carnatic vocal and veena. She has a diploma in music. She initially learnt music from Tirumala Rao and thereafter from A Sharada. She has performed in the temples of Keesaragutta, Yadagirigutta, Nallakunta Ramalayam and Sringeri Shankara Matham.
Kuchipudi Nritya Bharathi was started in 1985 by Pasumarti Seshubabu, who is also the Principal of the institution. Kuchipudi, vocal, veena and violin are being taught here.
