The Krishnakriti Foundation, as part of its annual art and cultural festival, in association with the Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, Culture France, Bonjour-India Festival, the French Embassy In India, the Novotel Hotel and Seagram 100 Pipers, is presenting Urban Jazz - a fusion of traditional art & new technologies by Mayakkam–Oxymore. The event will take place on 14th January, at the HICC Complex of Novotel Hyderabad..
Mayakkam-Oxymore is an artistic collaboration between France and India, combining dance, painting and music, as well as tradition and modernity. There are 3 disciplines carried through by 3 artists: Sangeeta Isvaran (Bharatanatyam), Cyrille Brissot (computer musician and researcher at IRCAM, specialised in translating recorded gestures into music), and Marko-93 (graffiti artist pioneer in the development of light-painting in real time video). The unifying thread here is movement, whether it be coded or abstract. Each one uses it in their own way, through body expressions, light or sound.
The Krishnakriti Art And Culture Festival is organised every year by the Lahoti Foundation, which was established by Prashant Lahoti in memory of his father Krishnachandra B Lahoti. On this occasion, art camps are organised by eminent artists and the works are auctioned off at the end of the festival. The proceeds from the sales go to the Krishnachandra B Lahoti Scholarship, which sponsors holistic education for deserving and needy students. Last year's proceeds have supported 70 children.
