Taj Deccan is welcoming the Telugu New Year with a special menu on 7th April, at Arena, the 24-hour coffee shop. Some of the specialities of the Ugadi menu are dishes like Ugadi Pachchadi, Bhakshalu, Karvepaku Garelu, Gongura Pappu, Mulakkai Sambar, Mamidikaya Pappu, Tomato Charu, Pulihora, Pesarapappu Payasam and Ariselu. You can also help yourself to various accompaniments like Aavakai (pickles), Appadam (papad) and Podilu (powders), presented on a trolley.
The highlight of this special feast is Ugadi Pachchadi - an Andhra delicacy reflecting the different flavors of life. It is made of neem leaves for bitterness, jaggery for sweetness, raw mango for tartness, tamarind juice for sourness, chillies for spice and salt for taste, in a combination that truly reflects life - a combination of sweet, sour and bitter tastes. This mixture with all six tastes symbolizes life in all its moments.
