The Hyderabad Film Club is screening a French Film titled A Nos Amours (To Our Loves) on 25th August, at Sarathi Studios, at 6:30pm.
To Our Loves, 95 minutes long, was directed by Maurice Pialat in 1983, who also plays a key role in the movie. The main cast includes Sandrine Bonnaire (Suzanne), Maurice Pialat (L Pere), Dominique Besnehard (Robert) and Evelyne Ker (La Mère).
Suzanne is the story of a promiscuous fifteen-year-old Parisian. 2 major events drive her into a unfulfilling cycle of pleasure-seeking - her sleeping with an American drives her boyfriend away, and her father leaves the family for another woman. After this, she engages in a number of affairs in reaction to her miserable situation at home, and relationships with her mother and brother escalate to violence. She continues to blindly seek happiness in life, without knowing how to love, and the film is about her sexual awakening.
Maurice Pialat won the Prix Louis Delluc for this film in 1983, and the Cesar Award in 1984 for Best Film. Sandrine Bonnaire was also awarded the César Award in 1984 for Most Promising Actress for her work in the film.
