The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club, is presenting Australian Visions, a festival of acclaimed Australian films, from 8th to 10th March, at the Prasad Labs Preview Theatre. A total of 8 films will be screened during the film festival.
Today, the last day, Three Dollars will be the 2nd of 4 movies to be screened. Three Dollars is directed by Robert Connelly, and some of the important characters in the movie are played by David Wenham, Frances O'Connor, Joanna Hunt and Sarah Wynter.
Eddie is a chemical engineer by profession, working for the Victorian Public Service testing soil for contamination in advance of development. His wife Tanya is an academic, and their 6-year-old daughter Abby is well loved.
When he leaks a report to The Age, concerned about a certain project, he is fired, and finds himself unemployed, with just 3 dollars to his name. It's at this moment that he again meets his childhood sweetheart, Amanda, daughter of a wealthy developer. With Tanya tearfully fearful for their future, Eddie's natural optimism is tested to the limit as he turns a baffled eye on the world.
