Vajpayee isn't the only one who makes even a cauliflower sound interesting. The cooks at the Kakatiya are good at that, too, if the dish called Cauliflower Batata Rasbhaji is anything to go by.
The ITC Kakatiya Sheraton is organizing a Saraswat Food Festival for a period of 8 days. Saraswat is a community spread over the coastal parts of the South, in Goa, Karwar and other parts of Konkan region. Some of the dishes of this region in the festival are Tomato Saar (tomato soup enhanced with coconut cumin and garlic), Cauliflower Batata Rasbhaji (cauliflower and potato in a gravy of red chillies, coriander seeds and coconut milk), Ambat (a delicate combination of lentils with tamarind coconut and spinach leaves) and Nustiachi Gashi (prawns in a gravy of ginger, garlic, green chillies and coconut), among other things.
There are also Phanasachya Patholya (jackfruit pancakes steamed in banana leaves), Doodhali (a moulded dessert of rice coconut jaggery) and Kelyache Muluk (deep-fried banana fritters) as special items.
