"We are trained not only to defend the country by taking to weapons, but also
to carry the flags of peace and culture." That seemed to be the motto of the young
NCC Cadets who displayed their diverse talents on the occasion of NCC Day.
This was their 52nd Annual Function under the Andhra Pradesh NCC Directorate. And the evening was a variety entertainment for the audience, as these young cadets displayed their skills in dance, music and martial arts.
A group of both girls and boys dressed as Chenchu tribes with feathers and colourful beads performed an invigorating 'Chenchu Nrityam', which was a colourful beginning for the performances. Further, there were Kuchipudi solo dance recitals by Nagavallika and Niveditha. The former rendered an elaborate 'Narayana Theertha Tarangam' and framed the choreography with a dance balancing on the brass tray, while the latter, with utmost reverence, rendered a series of Sanskrit verses and the ritual dance 'Brahmanjali'.
Another group of cadets, headed by Bala Chandra, followed up their brief recital titled "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha" with a series of classical songs. The cultural event ended with the display of Karate stunts by another group of cadets. The cadets participated with a joyous spirit, while the audience shared their elation and enthusiasm.
