This assistant registrar of the Telugu University isn't about to let such things
as monetary resources concern her as she goes about her mission of rehabilitating
the handicapped. And she's putting her own money in starting a vocational training
center for them. And as all those who work in government offices will realize,
it's easier for William H Gates III to donate $20m to a charitable cause than
for an assistant registrar in the Telugu University to give Rs. 20,000. Which
is what makes this lady so special.
Bharani is not alone - she has 5 other members of Shraddha, the voluntary organization
that she set up, partnering her. And today's event is aimed at generating awareness
in the outer world for Shraddha and asking for co-operation. The evening will
see Shraddha felicitating 3 handicapped persons who have fought their disadvantage:
Nutan Prasad, the film actor; Koteswara Rao, ex-Chairman of the A P Co-operative
Society Of The Handicapped, and Sai Baba, ex-Chairman of the A P Handicrafts Coproration.
The talk will be preceded by "Paduta Teeyaga", a rendering of folk and
devotional songs by Ramachari and his troupe.
The main guests for the evening will be Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Gopinath Reddy
(the IG), Kondala Rao (Lanco Group), Chandrasekhar (the Minister for Law) and
Vandemataram Srinivas (music director). Please contact Bharani at 767-2841 for
