The University of Hyderabad is presenting a lecture by Indian-American author Akhil Sharma on the topic of "The Changing Nature Of Immigrants In USA" on 9th February at the Centre for Study of Indian Diaspora, university campus.
Akhil Sharma was born in Delhi in 1971 and immigrated to the United States in 1979. Sharma is the author of "An Obedient Father", a novel set in Delhi during the period of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination. "An Obedient Father" won the Pen-Hemingway Prize and has been published in numerous languages.
Sharma is also an award-winning short story writer, and has been anthologized thrice in the Best American Short Stories list, and twice in O Henry Award winners. In 2007, he was included in Granta's list of Best Young American novelists. His new novel, "Stars From Another Sky", is expected to be released this year.
