St. Francis Xavier's Junior College has distinguished itself from the word go.
This arts college produced the state's 1st ranker in CEC (Intermediate) with its
very first batch, in 1996. And what's more, the girl, Prashanti Devi, with 87.3%,
recorded the highest ever score in that group.
The years that followed showed that that achievement was no flash in the pan -
the college has attained 2 more state ranks in the years after that, and is expecting
5 this year based on the current 2nd year batch's first year performance. Located
opposite the Uttaradi Raghavendra Swamy Math in Barkatpura's street no. 6, this
college, with 700 students now, demonstrates, in its annual days, how it keeps
the students morale and motivation high.
This is going to be a day of prizes for all the toppers, and the prizes are real
high - for instance, the state 5th ranker in CEC this year, Deepak Pancharia,
is getting Rs. 10,000 in cash and a gold medal. And the prizes are not only for
academic excellence, either - there are medals for sporting achievements, too.
And prizes for just attending all classes show how much emphasis the college puts
on all aspects of studenthood. 150 students being eligible for this last prize
shows the efficacy of it all.
The chief guest of this function will be Afzal Mohammed, the VC of the B R Ambedkar
