Buttabommalu and Puliveshalu in an international travel exhibition? Well, tough times make for strange bed-partners. Since there is negligible interest in international travel, it is necessary to draw people some way, and so the Department of Tourism decided to help out in the way that it knows best, we suppose. And so here you have the folk arts of the state being the prime attraction at an exhibition designed to package exotic destinations.

India International Travel Mart (IITM) and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department are jointly organizing a 'Travel And Tourism' exhibition for a 3-day period. A similar exhibition held last year at Necklace Road was a resounding success, with over 20,000 visitors.

IITM, established in 1998, is today the biggest travel and tourism event in South India. It serves as a marketing opportunity and a backdrop to enhance one's brand equity in the eyes of the end consumer and the travel-trade. The 5th and 6th India International Travel Marts were held at Bangalore and Chennai this July, and attracted more than 130 participants from over 13 countries.

Individuals and businesses wanting to display their products can approach Arun Gupta, Director, IITM, at (080) 559-9782/554-1461/62 for details.

Like we said, during this exhibition, the Department of Culture (DOC) will take part by arranging cultural events to entertain the visitors. The program schedule is as below:
