REVIEW FOR SPICE ADVENTURES - A VISUAL PRESENTATION ON SPICES
Her films are taught as texts in academic and film institutions. But let that not mislead you - they are quite entertaining. This one is particularly full of spice.
Samskruti, an offshoot of Saptaparni, is a forum that brings together children and parents, and is organising a presentation of Spice Adventures by Madhusree Dutta, on 23rd February at Saptaparni. Spice Adventures is an interactive CD, the first such work developed and produced 100% in India. Its visual style draws from Japanese animation and Indian miniature paintings. The film takes you on a journey through the history and origin of spices, the Indian cuisine, and the multi-dimensional nature of Indian culture, through 18 fun-filled interactive games that explain it all.
Madhusree Dutta is an alumnae of the National School of Drama, New Delhi. She has been making non-fiction films since 1993. Formal challenges and possibilities involved in non-fictional films inspired her into this genre of communication. Her films have been screened widely, both nationally and internationally, in film festivals and art events, and taught as texts in academic and in media & film institutions.
Madhusree will be present on the occasion. The event will be an interactive session for about an hour and a half. For further details, please contact 6666-7707/6682-1789.
