You can now watch the Earth from above - at Point Of View, a forum for screening documentaries, organised by Alliance Francaise at Goethe Zentrum, on 19th September. The documentary will begin at 5:30pm.
Home is directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a French photographer known for his book The Earth From The Air. The movie is a blend of a documentary and a am artwork. Narrated by Glenn Close, the film takes the director's Earth From Above perspective and sets it into motion with imagery from around the world. The main point of the movie is to help motivate viewers to reconsider their commitment to the Earth and take action, serving as both a wake up call to save the environment and an ode to nature.
Home illustrates the planet's fragile state entirely from a birds-eye view. With the help of aerial shots from more than 50 countries, it captures the mesmerizing beauty of the Earth, and the urgency of the catastrophe looming on it as a result of human action. First screened on June 5th 2009 on the occasion of World Environment Day, this film has ever since been released in several countries around the globe.
Point Of View is a forum through which Alliance Francaise offers a different perspective on society and the various issues brewing around it. The format is uses begins with a film screening addressing a particular, followed by a discussion between the audience and a panel comprising of Alliance Francaise members.
