A division of the largest employer in the world has every reason to celebrate
its genesis. The 'transport' of the occasion is obvious. So, when the 'connector'
of different cultures in India celebrates the anniversary with a cultural program
featuring 'trained' artistes, the coincidence couldn't have more deliberate.
Lalitha Kala Samiti, a cultural unit of South Central Railway is organizing dance dramas, music programs and harikathas as part of its 34th anniversary celebrations.
A felicitation function on the 21st to the artists connected with dance, drama, theater and music will take place. It will also feature presentations of cash awards to the best dramas selected. And on the same evening noted playback singer Vani Jayaram will present a vocal recital.
On the 22nd, the handicraft works of Kamala Prasada Rao will be displayed, and
this will be followed by a harikatha on SubhadraParinayam by Ramakumari
Bhagavatharni. On the 23rd, there will be Mudhapaka Balasundara Bhagavathulu's
harikatha on Nartanasala.
On the rest of the days, from the 23rd to the 29th, theater groups that have come
from different parts of Andhra Pradesh will stage dramas selected by SCR. The
Minister for Home Affairs, Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Dr. Akkineni Nageshwar Rao, Krithivasan,
the SCR General Manager and DGP H J Dora will be the chief guests.
