REVIEW FOR SASIREKHA PARINAYAM - HARIKATHA BY AMMANI
The Sita Rama Naama Sankeertana Sangam is organising a Harikatha recital by Ammani Bhagavathar on 11th April at Lord Balaji Temple at Alwal. The Harikatha will be accompanied by Seelam Koteshwar Rao on the violin and Yandamuri Subbarao on the mridangam.
The Harikatha will begin with Ganesh Stuti, and will be followed by the story Sasirekha Parinayam. The story begins with the Agnatavasam (exile) of the Pandavas, and ends with the marriage of Sasirekha with Abhimanyu. The tales is more popularly known as Maya Bazar.
Ammani Bhagavathar is a renowed Harikatha artist who has born and bought up in Tenali. He is the disciple of T Venkateshwar Gupta, and is an artiste of the All-India Radio and Doordarshan. Ammani started Harikatha gaanam at a young age of 6.
Ammani was awarded the Madhura Gaayakulu title, and has performed in prestigious sabhas like the Ravindra Bharathi and Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, and at many places in Andhra Pradesh and even all over India on major occasions. He was honored with a Swarna Kankanam at the Machilipatnam Harikatha Gana Sabha.
