It was simply chemistry when Venu met Sagarayya - their worlds exploded!
Directed by Thapi Chanakya, Rojulu Marayi was a major Telugu success. This is a reformist movie, based on a rural melodrama. Venu (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) takes on the oppressive might of the zamindar Sagarayya (C.S.R), and succeeds in putting an end to his tyranny. In his fight against injustice, Venu is helped by the sympathetic police force, and manages to redistribute the land among the peasants. Venu also marries a low cast woman (Janaki).
The movie was apparently inspired by the Avadi Congress session of 1955, where Jawaharlal Nehru gave a call for establishing a socialist pattern of society.
The song 'Eruvaka Sagaro', picturised on Waheeda Rehman, is regarded as heralding the advent of a new generation of film making.
