As part of the 8th anniversary celebrations of 10 Downing Street, Gary Lawyer and band are performing live on 6th November. The party will start at 8pm.
The evening is an exclusive retro night. Gary Lawyer, called 'the man with the golden voice', is regarded as one of the finest Indian artiste in the field of western popular music. With a bass baritone, Gary is comfortable in most genres of music, including rock, pop, jazz, country and folk.
With his varied musical influences and classically trained voice, Gary began his singing career in New York during his stay there in the '80s, singing at showcase theatres and nightclubs. In India, Gary was absorbed into the performing / recording industry, and made it in the advertising world, with his voice gracing hundreds of commercials. He made his mark as a composer and arranger with a string of successful TV commercials and albums. The Bajaj Sunny commercial, for which Gary wrote the lyrics and the soundtrack, won The New York Festivals Finalists Award.
On his return to India, Gary staged concerts, and was later involved in a musical called "Are You Lonesome Tonight", where he played the part of young Presley. Since then, Gary has performed concerts all over India and abroad. He was sent by the Government of India to the Festival of Russia to represent India in the pop / rock category.
Gary has to his credit 5 albums, including a song on a compilation album along with the Kenny Rogers, Gordon Lightfoot and Don Williams. His first album was "This Cannot Wait". "High Standards", a jazz album recorded with Louis Banks, was his next offering. His 3rd album, "The Other Side Of Dawn", was produced by Chris Bertoletti, an American producer, and featured some of America's finest session musicians. It was recorded entirely in New York and mastered at the Capitol Records in Los Angeles.
