Senior DJ Zam will be performing live for the retro night on 14th January at the Hard Rock Cafe.
DJ Zam (Zameer Rawjee) has been DJing since the era of nightclub Cellar (The Oberoi - Mumbai), from the early 90's. He has also been a musical firestarter for most clubs in Mumbai's suburbs.
DJ Zam first began his professional deejaying with Esoteric Acoustics in Mumbai, in 1990, after which he was sent to Hyderabad to spearhead as a resident for the first nightclub in town at the Country Club called 'Pyramids', in 1991. He brought with him the flavour of Bombay, and is considered to be responsible for opening Hyderabad's flood-gates to clubbing culture for the first time ever.
He was summoned back to Bombay in 1992 by DJ Whosane and DJ Asad, to work with them on their project Audiophile alongwith their premier DJ Luke Kenny. Here, he played at some prominent clubs, Sheetal Again, Wild Orchid, Go Bananas and Wig Wam.
He moved back to Hyderabad in 1994, and continued to perform at corporate launch parties. He has been a resident DJ for Passport, Diva and Where Else, and conceptualized a place dedicated to rock music lovers, called 'Easy Rider', in 2002. His has performed overseas at the India Club in Dubai.
After the closure of Easy Rider in 2006, and after performing for private shows and club theme parties in the city, DJ Zam moved into making a remixed series for an underground brand called 'UnDesi'. Currently, he is a music freelancer.
