REVIEW FOR RANGAPRAVESAM BY RAMYA RAVALI
Nritya Kinnera is presenting the Kuchipudi Rangapravesam by Ramya Ravali, on 27th September, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. Starting with the traditional Sabha Vandanam and a Jatiswaram, Ravali will proceed to Sri Ganapathim in Saurashtra ragam, followed by Annamacharya's Merugu Vantidhi Alimelu Manga, Shankaracharya's Mahishasura Mardini, a Tarangam - Neela Megha Shareera, Dr. Balamurali's Tillana in Brindavana Saranga and a Bhaama Kalapam.

The orchestra will be provided by Usha Gayathri and Srivalli Sarma with the nattuvangam and vocals respectively, Sridharachari on the mridangam, K Anil Kumar on the violin, Rayaprolu Sudhakar on the veena, Srikanth on the ghatam and Ram Mohan on the flute.

Ramya Ravali is a software engineer in Satyam Computers and is currently pursuing MS from BITS, Pilani. She is also a Nirmal painting artist, with a National Award at the age of twelve to her credit. She can also play the veena and has completed the Praveena in Carnatic music from Akhil Bharateeya Gandharva Vidhyalaya and Certificate course from the Telugu University.

Ramya is the daughter of Ram Mohan, an officer with the RBI, and Padma Nayani, an officer with the LIC. An interest for Kuchipudi made her take up the art under Maddali Usha Gayathri, since the last 3 years. With rigorous training, she has become one of the finest students of her guru, and has participated in various dance ballets, like the Vande Mataram and Yashoda Krishna.

Maddali Usha Gayathri is a disciple of late Vedantam Jagannatha Sarma and late Yelleswarapu Surya Prakasa Sarma. A disciplined and traditional Kuchipudi dancer, she has performed extensively both in India and abroad earlier, but has now settled as a guru teaching budding artistes at her dance school Nritya Kinnera. She occasionally performs in dance ballets along with her students, which she choreographs - her favorite is Yashoda Krishna. She is a recipient of the prestigious Hamsa Award from the Government Of Andhra Pradesh.
