This sporting bonanza may or may not be the future of India at the Olympics, but it's certainly going to be faster, higher, stronger, and a bunch of moving feats for everyone involved.
The Ranga Reddy District Athletics Association is organising the RR District Junior Athletics Championships, at the Gymkhana Grounds, this Sunday. Competitions will be held in various disciplines like running, jumping and throwing in the age categories of Under-18 and Under-20 years, boys and girls.
In the Under-18 boys and girls categories, competitions will be held in 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 1,500 metres and 2,000 metres running races, 110 metres hurdles, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shotput, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw and heptathlon, and a 10k walk.
In the Under-20 boys and girls categories, there will be 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres running races, 100 metres and 110 metres hurdles, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw, decathlon and heptathlon, and a 10k walk.
The winners in this championships will be selected to represent the district for the the State-level Junior Athletics Championships which will be held on 19th and 20th May at Guntur. Registrations will be done on the spot. Interested participants should reach the venue with their proofs of age before 2:00pm.
