It's time to get a point of view from the miniature side. We dance, are made to
sing to earn our livelihood. At the end of the day, what we get is just applause
and home is a cramped dark area, what you might just call a shoe box or a trunk.
Does it sound exploitative or demeaning? Can we setup a dot com site and would
you donate 50 paisa every time you forward an email? They wish.
The subjects in consideration are puppets and it's time to put away the tissue
box or handkerchief. A puppet dance drama is going to be played out at Ravindra
Bharathi called Lanka Dahana Choodamani. It is going to be performed by a 15 member
renowned group called Ganesha Gom-bay-atta Mandali and will be in English. This
would be preceded by the celebration of Artistes' Day and the evening is going
to be attended by Mr Harikrishna Punarur, president of the Karnataka Sahitya Parishad.
This puppet show would be a part of the ongoing 35th celebrations of the Kannada
Natya Ranga and is open to all. So indulge in an ancient form of entertainment.
