Baburao Pawar Arts Academy, in association with Yuvakalavahini, is presenting the Baburao Pawar Swarna Kankanam to theater activist Javvadi Rama Rao, on 16th April, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. On this occasion, the grandson of Late Baburao Pawar, Sanjeev Pawar, will present a sitar recital, which will be followed by a Yakshagana on Duryodhana by B M Kamath, and a mythogical drama Brahmaradham by Yuvakalavahini.
Javvadi Rama Rao is a 70-year-old, senior theater activist from Nidadavolu in West Godavari district. He has done as many as 1,000 plays as an artist, director and producer, before retiring 20 years ago. Since the last 20 years, he has been actively involved towards the development of theater activities, analysing plays and writing reviews.
Baburao Pawar was a make-up artiste for both the theater and the film industry. During his career spanning more than 40 years, he did makeup for almost every artiste of the day. The trade was started by Baburao, and is now a family business handed over to the following generations. The shop is located amidst the busy Sultan Bazaar lanes.
