Paruchuri Raghubabu Memorial 18th All India Theatre Festival is an event that took place between 27-Apr-2008 and 01-May-2008 in Hyderabad.

In an attempt to encourage the theatre arts, the Paruchuri Raghubabu Memorial Trust is organising the 18th All-India Theatre Festival from 27th April to 1st May, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. 21 Telugu plays from all over the country will be staged during the 5-day festival, as under:

27th April
3:00pm - Gandhi Jayanthi, play written by D Vijay Bhaskar, directed by Nirmala Reddy and staged by Akhil Art Theatres, Hyderabad
5:15pm - Made In India, playlet written by Paramatmuni, directed by Jetti Haribabu and staged by Kala Varshini, Hyderabad
6:30pm - Kottha Sainyam, playlet written by Akella, directed by T V Jaiprakash Reddy and staged by J P Theatre, Nalgonda
7:45pm - Punadhi, play written and directed by B P Prasada Rao and staged by Vamsee Niranjan Kala Kendram, Hyderabad

28th April
3:00pm - Pothugedda, play written by Palleti Lakshmi Kulashekhar, directed by N Ganga Maheshwara Rao and staged by Jyothi Kalamandir Fine Arts Association, Nandyala
5:15pm - Okka Kshenam, playlet written by Varikooti Sivaprasad, directed by Cherukuri Sambasiva Rao and staged by Ushodaya Kala Niketan, Hyderabad
6:30pm - Anjigadu, playlet written by G Appala Swamy, directed by Swapan Mandal and staged by Shudraka, Hyderabad

4:15pm - Kasturi Ranga Ranga, playlet written by Y Sai Baba, directed by M K Nagabhushana Rao and staged by Nataraja Arts Creations, Visakhapatnam
5:30pm - Gili Gili Dhoomtanakka, play written and directed by M S Choudhary and staged by New Stars Modern Theatre, Vijayawada
7:45pm - Lagabhus Lacchanna, playlet written and directed by Kasi Viswanath and staged by Kasi Viswanath Creations, Visakhapatnam
9:00pm - Shatamanam Bhavati, playlet written by Kasturi Rajshekhar, directed D V Chandra Shekhar and staged by Sri Krishna Telugu Theatres, New Delhi

1st May

5:30pm - Rakshabandanam, play written by Kasi Viswanath, driected by K Venkateswara Rao and staged by Jaya Kala Niketan, Visakhapatnam

At 8pm on May 1, comedian Dr. Brahmanandam will be felicitated on the occasion of entering the Guinness Book Of World Records for acting in the highest number of movies. The guests for the evening comprise a galaxy of film stars, such as Babu Mohan, AVS, M S Narayana, Tanikella Bharani, Mallikarjuna Rao, L B Sriram, Krishna Bhagwan, Shivaji Raja, Sunil, Venu Madhav, Raghubabu, Ganesh, Uttej, Kondavalasa, Shiva Reddy and Gundu Hanumantha Rao.

Participation cash prizes will be given at Rs. 6,000 for a play and Rs. 5,000 for a playlet. In addition, cash awards will be given for the 1st and 2nd best plays, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd for best playlets and the 1st and 2nd best actor, best actress, best comedian, best character actor and actress, and best supporting actor and actress. There will also be two special jury awards for best script, best direction, best stage set arrangement, best music and best make-up.

In memory of his late son Paruchuri Raghubabu, cine actor and writer Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao established the Paruchuri Raghubabu Memorial Trust in 1990, and organises theatre competitions every year. The trust promotes theatre by giving monetary aid to ailing groups.
