What do you call the victors of a competition which started off with 110,000
participants? It's okay to call them by their names, but it's more important to
know who they are, feels the Unified Council. And that has been the ideology that
has been driving it to recognize and reward the most talented students every year
through its talent search examinations.
Indeed, the National Science Talent Search Examination and the State Science
Talent Search Examinations have been extremely popular among students of high
school for well over a decade now. The stalwart performers of these are the guys
who eventually make it to all the premier engineering and medicine colleges across
the country, and it is seen as a way to measure one's aptitude and one's grasp
over the fundamentals.
Today will see the felicitation of the 24 top students in the exams of 2001, as
also of 276 district rankers. While the toppers will be given medals, the rest
will receive certificates and books. There are also awards for the best teacher
and the best performing school. The Minister For Education K Sreehari will be
the chief guest.
