As part of the closing ceremony for the Royal Hyderabad celebrations which started on 26th August, Royal Challenge is presenting a live rock/pop concert by the Pakistani band Strings, on 6th September, at the Hitex grounds in Madhapur. The opening of the concert will be a 45-minute act by Oliver Sean, followed by the Strings concert.
Oliver Sean burst into the international music industry in 2003 with his self-produced debut album 'I Like It', and made history when the album was nominated for 'Best International Album of the Year' (AVMax Awards) along with those by Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, John Mayer & Third Eye Blind. The single then hit No. 1 on the World Music Charts, and won the International Songwriting Contest. Sean and his band are now on their India Tour promoting their debut Hindi album Darna Chod Do, which is burning up the charts.
Strings is a Pakistani pop band comprising two members, Bilal Maqsood, the lead vocalist, and Faisal Kapadia, the guitarist/composer/vocalist. Starting with four college students (Bilal, Faisal, Rafiq and Kareem) in 1990, they came out with a self-titled album. The band dismembered in 1992 after its second album "Strings 2". Eight years later, Bilal and Faisal reformed the group, coming out with their album "Duur" and then "Dhaani", both proving national and international hits.
In 2005, Strings won the best artist award at the MTV Asia Awards. They have composed the soundtrack for the film Shootout At Lokhandwala, Naajanay Kyoun for Spidernan 2, Hai Koi Hum Jaisa (the Pakistani cricket team's official World Cup song), and Tu Hai Kahan for a project by PepsiCo.
