Asoka bowed to Buddhism after the war, but Sundari took to war even after surrendering to Buddhism. Is Lakshmi Parvati to blame?
The NTR Educational Society is presenting the annual NTR Cine And Drama awards. Veteran Telugu hero Kanta Rao, cine artist Burra Subramanya Shastri, and artist Usha Bala have been chosen for this year's award. Kanta Rao and Burra Subramanya Shastri will be getting a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, and Usha Bala will be getting one of Rs. 10,000.
The award function will be followed by the performance of a play written by Lakshmi Parvati, called Sramanakam. The play is about the struggle of Sundari, the wife of Buddha's brother Nanda, against diksha and celibacy in Buddhism. This historical play is about her war, along with an army of other women, against this aspect of Buddhism.
The guests of honour for the evening are Union Steel And Fertilizer Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Endowments Minister M S Satyanarayana, and the general secretary of the All India Forward Block Party Deve Bratha Biswas. Other dignitaries include cine artist Rajashekhar and his wife Jeevita.
