The Cultural Wing of Mahatma Gandhi Institute Of Technology (MGIT) is organising its annual cultural festival Nirvana '10, from 6th to 9th April, at the collegecampus in Gandipet. Started in 2004, Nirvana has grown bigger with each successive year.
The 4-day extravaganza will have several fun-filled events, and a cultural night featuring singer KK on the last day. A detailed list of the events is as follows:
The Legendary League
The Super Six
A game of cricket with six overs a side.
The Slam Dunk
A half court game of basketball.
This is an online game for the gaming freaks, and the games are Counter Strike, FIFA 10, Need For Speed, DOTA, and Unreal Tournament.
The TT Tourney
A table tennis tournament with many exciting prizes to be won.
“iMACBOT - Robotics Made Easy” is a workshop specially conducted for young technical minds and robotics enthusiasts of all disciplines from diploma institutes to engineering colleges (students from all the branches are allowed). iMACBOT is an abbreviation for “Intelligent Machine Robot”. The workshop is being organized by ARK Technosystems, in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur.
The Literary Lounge
An extempore which requires participants to talk on a topic unprepared.
Talk on a topic and argue with your opponent to prove that you are right.
Sell It Off
Participants are required to convince the judges to sell their given product.
A topic will be given to a group of participants and they need to discuss this point among themselves, expressing their point of view.
Make something worthwhile out of waste. Participants are required to paste newspaper and magazine clippings on a chart.
A quiz based on audio and visual clues.
The Techie Talk
The one event common to every fest, the paper presentation at Nirvana is an amalgam of all technical fests happening at MGIT - Metallon (Dept. of Metallurgy), Microcosm
(Dept. of ECE), Potenzia
(Dept. of EEE), Qubit
(Dept. of CSE), Technovation (Dept. of Mechatronics) and Yukti
(Dept. of IT).
Participate in exciting events such as model presentation, fundamentals and circuit debugging.
The Cultural Extravaganza
A dance competition in solo, duet and group categories. Winners get a chance to perform on the main stage on the penultimate night on Nirvana'10. There are prizes worth Rs. 30,000 to be won.
A solo stage act, in which participants will be judged based on their acting skills, body language and spontaneity. The final round will be judged by renowned film director Sekhar Kammula.
A painting and pencil sketching competition.
Short Film Making
A film making contest for budding directors - your film should be of a 15-minute duration.
The Hunt Pursuit
This is an event for those who have the talent to speak over the microphone and have listeners glued in.
A hunt for a video jockey with the right combination of humour, expressions, speech and a smile.
As the neame suggests, participants will be provided with maps in which clues that lead to the treasure need to be found.
A solo singing competition.
Famous playbacl singer KK will perform live on the final day. Krishnakumar Kunnath, also known as KK, is an award-winning singer who has lent his voice to Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil films. Some of his hit numbers are Dilnashin Dilnashin from Aashiq Banaya Aapne

. Entry to this event is by donor passes of Rs. 750 for the Platinum section (seated), Rs. 500 for the Gold section (standing) and Rs. 300 for the Silver (standing).
