The Alliance Francaise is conducting a seminar as a part of this year’s celebration of the European Day Of Languages, titled Towards The Glocal World: The Role Of Foreign Languages In India at University Of Hyderabad, from 10th to 11th September.
The purpose of this seminar is to share new ideas and diverse practices in foreign language teaching. The seminar will deal with the concept of a glocal world, that sees the global and the local interact in complex ways, and in which traits like multilingualism, intercultural understanding and tolerance have become vital values - values that should be inculcated in the education system, as well as incorporated through life-long learning.
Themes at the seminar include mother languages and other languages, nativism, and global citizenship. There will be be presentations by lecturers and language teachers from India and abroad. Panel Discussions will also be organized by members of the Alliance Francaise, as well as guest lecturers.
