Ashok decides to take his cousin Preeti to the lighthouse. Chandan, a reckless youth, drives the launch carrying Ashok and Preeti. In a bid to show off his driving prowess, he takes undue risks and invites danger. To make matters worse, the launch gets caught in a sudden thunderstorm. All three on board nearly come to grief until Ashok's father, the lighthouse keeper, manages to save them. A chastened Chandan turns over a new leaf.
Produced in 1956, Kidar Sharma's Lighthouse is CFSI's maiden production. The film went on to win the 1st prize at the Venice International Children's Film Festival in 1957.
