PREVIEW FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD BY THE IRIA
The medical fraternity of Hyderabad is one of the more low-profile ones, but peep
inside and you'll find a whole world of its own. The existence of an Indian Radiological
and Imaging Association, for example, would be news to most. And the A P chapter
is the most active of all. Touch these folks, and they'll tell you a lot about
how they started, how they take pride in being so pro-active, how they contribute
to the subject, and so on.
Professor K Subba Rao, ever since he returned from the US in 1984, has been the "guiding force" behind this association. He has also been instrumental in the institution of Continuing Medical Education (CME) for doctors in all specialties, and was chairman of the Indian College of Radiology for 2 terms (5 years). And for his enormous contribution to the field, the IRIA [AP] is giving him the first Lifetime Achievement Award in Radiology today.
The evening will start with a performance in Bharatanatyam by 12-year-old Deepti Verma, a veteran of 60 performances already, and recipient of several titles like the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial National Award by the A P Film Council and Bala Chaitanya by Aaradhana. The formal felicitation will start at 6pm.
The chief guest for the evening will be the Governor Dr. C Rangarajan, and the Speaker of the Assembly Pratibha Bharathi is expected to participate. Please contact Dr. Ramasubbaraidu at 320-3624/360-8074 for further details.
