This Saturday, the midnite party at Treasure Island will feature Leslie Lewis live. Renowned for his hit number "Sa Ni Da Pa" with Hariharan, Lezz will be playing his compositions along with some jazz numbers.
Leslie Peter "Lezz" Lewis started his musical career as a guitarist regularly playing at Mumbai's Cafe Royale, Oberoi Towers Hotel, while recording jingles for TV and film during the day for his own company (Ze Bop Music) at his own 24-track studios - Purple Haze. He has also composed and produced for albums including Bombay Girl (for Alisha Chinai), Paree (Sunita Rao) and the super-hit Jaanam Samjha Karo (Asha Bhosle). He had already worked alongside the likes of Kalyanji-Anandji, R D Burman and Laxmikant Pyarelal before teaming up with Hariharan.
With the virtual overnight success of the debut album Colonial Cousins with Hariharan in 1992, he took the Indian musical scene by storm. The album won several awards, such as the MTV Asia Viewer's Choice Award, the Channel [V] Award and the Indian Viewers Choice Award. They are the first group to perform as MTV Unplugged artistes from India.
In between, Lezz found time to concentrate on his own solo album Haseena, which fulfilled a life-long dream for him personally. Now, as a talented guitarist, composer and singer, he is beginning to show his true musical colors. Lezz has also composed music for the film Jahd, that features the voice of Hariharan.
The entry is by tickets of Rs. 400 for a couple and Rs. 500 for a stag, available at the venue on the day of performance. Please contact 98850-74002/92465-78772/99492-39796 for further details.
