The Jalwa is back this Wednesday night at the Poison! DJ Akbar Sami will pamper the ladies tonight, with high doses of Bollywood music and free booze.
After the phenomenal success of Jalwa I, II, III and IV, which went on to create new records in the world of remix music, Times Music presents Jalwa Returns, which marks the return of the remix maestro, DJ Akbar Sami, one of the most celebrated and acclaimed DJs in the country.
Hailing from Mumbai, Akbar grew up listening to jazz, piano, saxophone, harmonium and the tabla. Akbar’s foray into the entertainment world dates back to the early Eighties when he would 'go around doing dance shows'. He later graduated to be a choreographer, while still in school. Akbar started his career with a small stint in Cavern at Sea Rock Sheraton by accident. But Akbar had already decided what he wanted to do in life. Xanadu followed, and Akbar was now living in the console. Mastering the system, the later years saw him globe trotting as the popular Indian DJ, who in fact introduced House music to the Indian dance floors.
His prowess once again reflected in his cover versions of the albums Jalwa 1, Jadoo, and Jalwa 2. From the much appreciated ‘Do Lafzon ki’, ‘Dagha la lagli’ (the super duper hit in Marathi) & ‘Raat Baaki’ his tracks were unique and had their own appeal. By now DJ Akbar Sami had arrived. Bollywood came calling with title tracks of Sohail Khan starrer ‘Maine Dil Tujko Diya’, ‘Awara Pagal Diwana’, ‘Jeena Sirf Mere Liye’ and ‘Aan’.
Sami's passion for the artful chemistry of mixing rap, jazz, folk, rock and contemporary music, with traditional melodies, has ensured that he is among the most preferred DJs in the industry. He has to his credit a number of awards like the All-Asian DJ Championship and Channel [V]'s Best Indian Club DJ. With his Bollywood hits like Just Chill & Aashiq Banaya Aapne, he has retained his position as one of the best in the industry.
Free drinks will be served for ladies, till 10:00pm. Entry is for couples, and cover charges are applicable for men. Please contact the pub at 99122-72111 / 98499-74107 for further details.
