Baby Ujwala is presenting her Kuchipudi Rangapravesam, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium on 20th July. The recital starts with a Sabha Vandanam in raagamalika raagam, followed by Thyagaraja's Shambo Mahadevi in Pantuvarali raagam, Jatiswaram in Abhogi, Ramayana Shabdam in Mohana, Dr Balamurali Krishna's Tillana, Thyagaraja's Gandhamu Puyyaruga in Punnaga Varali, Narayana Teertha's Tarangam Neela Megha, and Mahishasura Mardini in Punnaga Varali.
The orchestra will be provided by Usha Gayathri and Srivalli Sarma with the nattuvangam and vocals respectively, Sridharachari on the mridangam, K Anil Kumar on the violin, Rayaprolu Sudhakar on the veena, Srikanth on the ghatam and Venkatesh on the flute.
Ujwala is an 8 year old Class III student of Delhi Public School and a disciple of Maddali Usha Gayathri. She is the granddaughter of the famous city chartered accountant T Venugopal and the daughter of chartered accountant T Suresh and Lakshmi. She has been learning since the last two years after observing the dance form for two years before that. She has been part of many dance ballets of Usha Gayathri and her institute Nrithya Kinnera.
Maddali Usha Gayathri is a disciple of late Vedantam Jagannadha Sarma and late Yelleswarapu Surya Prakasa Sarma. A disciplined and traditional Kuchipudi dancer, she has performed extensively both in India and abroad earlier, but has now settled as a guru teaching young budding artistes at her dance school Nritya Kinnera. She occasionally performs in dance ballets along with her students, which she choreographs - her favorite is Yashoda Krishna. She is a recipient of the prestigious Hamsa Award from the Government Of Andhra Pradesh.
